The National Milk Producers Federation’s FARM program is: “a nationwide, verifiable animal well-being program that provides consistency and uniformity to best practices in animal care and quality assurance in the dairy industry. The program aims to provide a consistent platform for animal well-being.” According to UC Davis’s Veterinary Medicine School, the program consists of a: “comprehensive set of animal care guidelines developed by veterinarians, animal scientists and dairy farmers. Individual dairy farms in the program are evaluated, in-person, by a certified evaluator according to the program’s guidelines. Initial on-farm evaluations are followed by a third-party program verification process where independent experts are used to verify results.”
